Picking the Perfect Playlist
Sometime I get a little bored when I'm baking. Especially if I'm making something I've made hundreds of times before and takes little brain effort. So I always have my playlist in the background to keep myself from zoning out to much. Usually this ends up with me singing out loud by accident, much to my parents annoyance, but I think we all love a bit of karaoke right? Plus it makes your bake so much more fun. I thought I would share with you lovely people my top 10 artists to check out and to add to your next playlist. They're pretty awesome!
1) Mumford and Sons
These guys have really excelled in the last few years, I've been a fan since the first album and oh my goodness, they're incredible live! As I'm writing this, I'm listening to them! Unlike a lot of today's popular music, every song sounds so different, so you never know what to expect when they release some new material, other than that it will have their trademark Mumford and Sons sound. With a catchy beat, catchy lyric and incredible voices, you cannot miss out on the talent that's sweeping the globe right now.
Favourite Track: I Will Wait
Check out their track 'I Will Wait' Live here:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eSrlOQu8bPY
2) Amber Run
Hailing from Nottingham, UK this group of lads have really made it in the last year or so. I had the honour to see them live in May and they don't half put on a good show. These five guys are so down to earth, and are ridiculously talented. Although they're not widely known yet, I can see big things happening for them over the next few months and years. They've recently released their debut album 5AM which has gone down a storm, and are currently on tour until the end of the year with all but one of their dates sold out! You guys should definitely check Amber Run out, and brace yourselves for the flurry of love that will no doubt come their way soon!
Favourite Track: Just My Soul Responding
Check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8jSJYngsp1s
3) Stereophonics
Now Stereophonics have been around for what seems like a lifetime, but they're not going anywhere soon! Having just released a new album (Keep the Village Alive), and announcing a tour in December, Stereophonics keep on going from strength to strength. They never fail to deliver feel good music, that always gets the crowd up on their feet, belting their lyrics out. I would definitely suggest buying their latest album, or another personal favourite which is 'Just Enough Education to Perform'. Its a classic!
Favourite Track: Dakota

4) Thirty Seconds to Mars
Mars are a big inspiration to me, coming from nothing and working their butts off to make a name for themselves, and to get to where they want to be-writing and performing music they love. Tomo, Jared and Shannon are all incredibly talented, and with over a decade of experience, they don't half know how to put on an incredible show. Their tracks are catchy and inspirational, and although they may have changed their musical direction over the last few years, they definitely haven't lost their Mars heritage. They continue to sell out tours, headline festivals across the globe and never fail to fuse many musical genres together. So if you haven't given them your ear, definitely check these guys out!
Favourite Track: Closer to the Edge

5) Josh Doyle
So if you were ever a fan of The Dum Dums, you may know this next guy. Josh Doyle was the frontman of the Dum Dums, who hail from London, although he can now be found living life across the pond. In summer 2012 he signed with Dolly Parton's record label (pretty rad right?), and released his debut album. He regularly comes back to the UK on tours, so next time he's over, you HAVE to go and see him. He is absolutely incredible, both live and recorded. You can really connect with the lyrics, and before long you'll be singing them out loud in your next jamming session!

6) The Dunwells
If you follow me on Twitter, you probably know by now that I'm a pretty big fan of these guys. They've just recently finished a UK tour, with a sell out show in London. With each new release, and each new tour, their sound just keeps on improving, and I'd be surprised if they don't become a household name in the next year or so, it's safe to say they definitely deserve it after all the hard work they put into their material. On stage, they know how to have a party and to get the crowd involved, its safe to say you will not be disappointed if you give them a listen. They've certainly come a long way since their beginnings, and you don't want to miss out on finding these guys and the opportunities these guys are going to get over the next few months and years. Definitely one to watch!
Favourite Track: Was it all Worth it

7) Dawes
Dawes are an American folk-rock band hailing from the sunny skies of LA. I found out about these guys when I went to see Mumford and Sons in 2012 (I just realised that was three yeas ago and now I'm a little freaked out!). They have a sound which is similar to Mumford, but they definitely put their own twist on it. Dawes have the ability to really get the crowd going, even when no one knows their name. Dawes is a band that have slowly but surely been going from strength to strength with each album release, since their debut in 2009 with North Hills. They’re a tight act driven by perfect harmonies and gutsy rhythms, yet with each release they’ve found a way to mix up the formula and create exciting, emotional journeys for any one who listens to their music.

8) Ron Pope
Another lesser known-act in the UK from across the pond, but he definitely has the potential. Again, he is heading out on tour over here in January, and if you can get tickets, then definitely try to get along to a show, his talent has no bounds. His musical direction has definitely kept up with the times, and it's hard not to connect with his powerful lyrics. His live performances continue to get better every time, and I think big things are on the horizon for this guy. His voice is beautiful and lyrics are emotional, I don't think you could find a better artist coming out of America right now (big statement I know). His song A Drop in the Ocean has had air time on The Vampire Diaries and 90120, creating a wide audience for himself, yet he remains to be an independent artist, relying on downloads and constant touring, yet another reason to head out in January to support him. You'd be a fool not to!
Favourite Track: Southern Cross

9) Chris McClarney
Chris McClarney is a singer, song-writer and worship leader who this summer released an incredible album Everything and Nothing Less. I know a lot of you will probably be reading this thinking 'Why has she included something Christian in this? Why would I listen to this guy, I'm not a Christian.' But you don't need to be a Christian to listen to Christian music, or to even enjoy it. Yes this incredibly talented man is a Christian, as I am, but his voice and his words are so full of passion, and are so genuine, you'd be crazy for missing out on such a profound album, Christian or not. Filled with a passion to see people experience the love and power of Jesus that I've never seen or heard before, Chris' debut live album definitely deserves a listen.
Favourite Track: Beauty for Ashes

10) The Gaslight Anthem
Most people across the globe still have no idea about this band, and it's such a shame. They are am-az-ing. Their room-filling rock songs are lead by Brian Fallon, whose voice has no limits. His vocals and guitar work continue to be impressive, and they've found the balance between every instrument and every voice that makes up the band. If you like rock n' roll, emotion, punk rock, or, music in general, I urge you to give this band a spin. It may be one of the best things you do this year.

So there's my 10 favourite artists at the moment! They're not in any particular order, it took me long enough just to pick my favourite ten! Seriously, do not miss out on an opportunity to listen to any of these artists, they're all so talented and hard working, it's only a matter of time before the majority of these join the others in being a household name. Let me know what you guys think of my choices, and feel free to share your favourite jamming tracks at the moment!
Music is one of the only things that unites generations, genders, and races from across the globe, sharing a common interest that can bring you to tears, make you laugh, and have a good time. Without music, life would be a mistake.
