Classic Bread Rolls

Hello lovely people!

I hope you're all having a fabulous weekend so far!

Sadly its Monday again tomorrow but I have just the recipe to warm you up on these cold winter's nights and to make your Monday more enjoyable-freshly baked bread rolls. Perfect with a bowl of soup!

This recipe is from Allinson's. When making bread of any type, I always try and use their flour, I find it's a lot more versatile and much easier to work with. They have over 120 years of milling expertise, and have been producing fine flour since 1892. They're packs of dried yeast are also an essential purchase, and can be stored for months! Perfect if you're not an everyday bread baker.

Ingredients:
500g Allinson's strong white flour
1 ½ tsp salt
1 tsp sugar
15g butter
2 tsp
Allinson's easy bake yeast  (7g)
300ml warm water (2 parts boiling to 1 part cold)

Method:
In a large bowl, add the flour and salt, and stir in the sugar and yeast. Then rub in the butter until only fine crumbs are left.

Add enough water and mix to form a soft dough.

Knead the dough on a lightly floured board for up to 10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use the dough hook attachment on your mixer and knead for 5 minutes.

Lightly grease your mixing bowl with some oil. Put the dough back in and cover the bowl with a clan tea towel and leave to rise until doubled in size.

Gently knock back the dough by kneading just 5 minutes to get the air out. At this stage you can either mould the dough into a smooth oval and place it in a loaf tin or split it into smaller chunks and mould to make bread rolls.

Shape the dough on a baking tray or place in a bread tin, cover and leave in a warm place to rise until double in size for 15 - 20 minutes. Preheat your oven to 230C.

If you've chosen to make a loaf, bake for 15 minutes before reducing the heat to 200C and baking for a further 15 - 20 minutes until bread is risen & golden brown.

If you've chosen to make bread rolls, simply bake at 230C for 15 minutes.
To ensure your bread is cooked, tap the base and if it sounds hollow you're all baked!

Leave to cool on a wire rack.

And voila!
