Macmillan Coffee Morning

This month sees Macmillan's annual coffee morning. The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer. People across the UK host their own Coffee Mornings and all donations on the day are made to Macmillan. Last year alone a whopping £25 million was raised and donated to a fantastic charity, that is constantly changing and improving lives.

Macmillan is one of the leading cancer support charities. 1 in 2 of us will be affected by cancer at some point in our lives, whether it is personally or a close relative or friend. Their work is vital in helping individuals regain some form of normality in their lives. Their ambition and aim is "to reach and improve the lives of everyone living with cancer and to inspire millions of others to do the same."

Since the charity was created in 1911, a lot has changed. New cancers have been discovered, new treatments have been found successful and the survival rates have come on leaps and bounds, cancer is no longer the death sentence that it once was. However. There are 2.5 million people living with cancer in the UK today, and as more people live longer with their cancer, this number is set to grow to 4 million by 2030. Macmillan want to make sure they can provide support to everyone who needs it, to help people affected by cancer feel more in control of their lives.

It’s a big task and they can’t do it alone. And that's where we come in.

On September 30th, The World's Biggest Coffee Morning is taking place.

Hosting your own Coffee Morning is easy. All you have to do is sign up and Macmillan will send you a free Coffee Morning Kit, packed with all the things you need to host a wonderful event. It makes everything from inviting your friends to raising money a piece of cake. All you need to do is invite family and friends, bake some cakes and have a good time; and that is your bit done.
All the money raised from every coffee morning across the country will go to Macmillan in order to help them continue to do the life changing work they do.

I urge everyone, if you have a spare 2-3 hours on Friday 30th September, then why not think about hosting your own Coffee Morning? Or see if you can find a local event and pop along and have some yummy snacks and help raise money to change thousands of lives.
